Sabbatical Begins
Isn't it time we started calling intuition "the FIRST sense?"
-Dr. Edgar Mitchell, astronaut, and the 6th person to walk on the moon.
“I recall something James told me about his research methods. He said that when his graduate students found data that did not appear to fit the hypothesis, they often ignored the data. He said that he would redirect them towards the anomaly. The anomaly, he explained, was there for a reason, and it was their job to understand why it was there, and then to possibly change their hypothesis.”
-Diana Walsh Pasulka, American Cosmic: UFOs, Religion, Technology.
(Since the book’s publication, it has been revealed that “James” was the pseudonym for Garry Nolan, PhD, Professor of Pathology, Stanford University)
I knew I wanted my first public Earthling School blog posts to open with these two quotes. As an anomaly within art, landscape architecture, and the academy, I have decided to fully embrace my anomalous, intuitive nature during my sabbatical. This period is for living an experiment: what does it mean to be an Earthling? I will be reporting back.
